Keira Shaw

Keira Shaw

Keira joined Chambers as a tenant in October 2024 following the successful completion of her pupillage.

Keira accepts instructions in all areas of Crime. She has developed a broad and busy practice, prosecuting and defending in both the Crown and Magistrates’ Court. She has been instructed on a range of cases including driving offences, drugs, theft/robbery, domestic violence and assault offences.

Keira also accepts instructions on matters involving Dog Destruction Orders in both the Magistrates and Crown Court. She also has a successful record dealing with road traffic and driving matters in the Magistrates Court, in particular Exceptional Hardship arguments.

With a First-Class Honours Degree in Law from the University of Law in Manchester and having taken the Bar Practice Course at the same institution, Keira’s academic credentials are impeccable.

Keira has a fervent passion for criminal law, substantiated by her diverse practical experience. She spent a year volunteering at Witness Care in Preston Crown Court, where she offered invaluable emotional and practical support to witnesses. Her role involved liaising with legal professionals and conducting pre-trial visits for vulnerable witnesses, particularly those involved in rape cases.

Before joining chambers, Keira worked as a paralegal for a leading criminal defence firm in the North West. Entrusted with her own Crown Court caseload, she honed her skills in case preparation and client care. Her experience extends to attending police stations, giving her a comprehensive understanding of the criminal law process from pre-charge to trial – something lacking in many at the Criminal Bar.

Keira has already demonstrated a deep commitment to our chambers and the Criminal Bar. Her passion and dedication, coupled with her practical experience, make her an invaluable asset to our team. We are confident that Keira will have a bright and successful career at the Criminal Bar.
